Auto Accident /Whiplash

Auto accidents can lead to a variety of injuries, one of the biggest concerns is whiplash. Whiplash is caused by an injury to the neck when the head moves forward and backward in a rapid motion that ends up placing strain on the surrounding muscles and ligaments and usually occurs in a motor vehicle accident.

Signs and symptoms of whiplash usually develop within 24 hours of the injury and may include:

• Worsening of pain with neck movement

• Loss of range of motion in the neck

• Headaches, most often starting at the base of the skull

• Tenderness or pain in shoulder, upper back or arms

• Tingling or numbness in the arms

• Fatigue

• Dizziness

 

It is imperative to consult with a medical professional as soon as possible to determine the which structures were affected by the incident and the severity of the injury(s).
